The West Central Georgia Black Chamber of Commerce (WCGBC) was officially established in
June 2022 as a 501(c)(6) nonprofit membership-based organization. Founded to serve as a
catalyst for economic empowerment and inclusive business growth, the chamber was created to
support the underserved and often overlooked Black and minority-owned businesses in the Region 4 area of the Georgia Regional Commission.
This region encompasses 10 counties: Butts, Carroll, Coweta, Heard, Lamar, Meriwether,
Pike, Spalding, Troup, and Upson. These communities are rich in history, culture, and
entrepreneurial spirit, but have historically lacked equitable access to capital, contracting
opportunities, and business support services. The formation of WCGBC was a direct response to these disparities.
